Curriculum Vitae
Mr. Shoss is a founding Member (1992) of Performance Enhancement Group, Ltd. (PEG), an organizational development consulting firm specializing in helping companies measure things that are often considered un-measurable. PEG works with companies and alumni organizations of all sizes and in all industries, measuring such things as customer satisfaction, employees' perceptions of organizational support, and the individual characteristics that are most required to fill a specific job or round out a given team. PEG designs, develops, and delivers initiatives for improving performance at the individual, team, and organizational levels, using tools such as strategic planning facilitation, teambuilding, process redesign, training, and customer satisfaction and employee feedback programs.
After completing his MBA in 1981, Rob spent over ten years in the natural gas industry where he was integrally involved in natural gas deregulation while on staff at Tenneco. Among other duties at Tenneco, he headed the long rang planning group for several divisions. Responsibilities included the management of the deregulated gas division's strategic planning, market planning, and various oversight of various business development initiatives. During this time Rob managed several aspects of three major strategic alignment and assessment processes; two with McKinsey & Company, Inc. and one with Monitor Company. Rob also drafted various position papers and performed initial analysis on the need for a spot market in the natural gas industry; he developed the original contracts used in this market and developed a linear program model for use in allocation of natural gas into the spot market.
Prior to getting his MBA, Rob spent five years working with an offshore drilling contractor, Keydrill, in both the Gulf of Mexico and off the coast of Nigeria. In those years he developed a keen understanding of the mechanics of the operations in jobs ranging from crane operator to barge supervisor on offshore drilling platforms.
Rob has been involved with the Galleria Chamber of Commerce for over nine years where he served two terms as Chairman of the Board of Directors from 1997 through 1999. Additionally, he was a member of the steering committee for the Houston Metropolitan Study, a collaborative effort between Rice University and the University of Houston, to determine the fundamental issues facing the Houston Metropolitan Area in the 21st century. The initial presentation of the results of this work was delivered at the AIM Business-to-Business Expo, on April 2, 1998. Rob continues as a member of the nominating committee for the Houston Metropolitan Study Awards that are given at each AIM Business-to-Business Expo.
